Write Your Blessings in Stone

Before any more time passes between postings, I want to briefly share some of our gratitude here for our grandchildren to perhaps discover when they are older and just because that was/is the purpose for this blog. I want to say how very, very thankful we are for our family. Not many people are as blessed.

They are not all pictured here and some are "adopted" family, but because pictures speak volumes, this is as close as I can come to writing our "blessings in stone" as we reflect on this past year and with some no longer with us. Families by their nature are often at the heart of all of our struggles, but when God is in the mix, they are also the bedrock of who helps us overcome the worries of this life by their unfailing love. They stay.

We love you, family, and are grateful for you more than you know. May God protect each one of you/us this new year and always as we are all in this together. With gratitude ~

Quail Hunting and Betty Cracker

Quail Hunting and Betty Cracker Strikes Again

Today's adventures included Robert (aka Grandpa) leading the quail hunts with Landon's assistance behind-the-scenes and Betty Cracker (aka Grandma) back at it in the kitchen again fixing whatever with whatever as usual.

Robert is in the middle with our quail dog, Colt, an English spaniel, on point.

Colt in true form!

Summer with Our Grandbabies

For the sake of posterity and of counting blessings, here is a link to several videos on my YouTube channel of our precious grandchildren, Chelsea & Grant, and of a snippet of our time together this summer for their extended stay with us here in Texas. God's blessings . . .

Note to family- just search for "Chelsea" or "Grant" on my Youtube page and all of their videos should appear. Y'all, enjoy.

Make Way for the Horns

Life Goes On

As we move from spring to summer, we've had several milestone happenings here as well as the company of many creatures from the lofty to the creepy kind - all good though!

Painted buntings are back in Central Texas!

Robert is back to serving behind the badge!

A mother and father barn swallow tag-team to care for their young.

Doodle bug apocalypse due to dryness outside - these things have "gills" and need moisture. Good luck, little guys.

Our oldest son, Landon, with our grandbabies, Chelsea and Grant, and a first annual picnic!

A toad on our dirt road.

A toad at the dog kennels just minutes later - it's the creepy crawly season.

A cicada freshly emerged from its former carcass.

A scoripon combing the walls at night surely looking for water like the invading doodle bugs. I sprayed it.

Our youngest son, David, here with his good friend, Zach, before departing to Oregon to be a wild-land firefighter through October. Valla con Dios!
