Pre-Spring Has Sprung at the Star

Once again, it's been a while . . . A dear friend or two has asked how we're doing, so I thought I'd better check in here with a brief note before any more time passes. We're staying busy with good things here at the ranch with the pre-spring winter blooms everywhere -- if only photos could capture and share smells -- now THAT might be a tech invention worth pursuing! Somebody get on that, please. (It probably exists already.)

The ranch's native Texan yellow agarita bush blooms and not-so-native pinkish-white Mexican plum tree flowers are DELICIOUS. Seriously. My mouth waters every time I catch a whiff. However, as you see below, we're all geared up here because we have a surprise three-day freeze coming.

Coming from living all over the Houston area for decades, these Central Texas full four seasons are very appreciated - even in the cold. By comparison, the current low for our grand-kids who live in Canada is NEGATIVE 27 degrees today. Um. We can deal with 27 as a low here tonight.

Welp, like I said, this will be brief, but I do want to also include a little note of encouragement for all if you scroll below the pictures. Today it served as a personal prayer for myself and for all as by March we are far enough from New Year's Resolutions now to need a re-charge yet quickly approaching the beginning of the beloved and selfless Lenten season (one of my favs)!

Lolita being Lolita - this is what senior ratchas do for at least 22 hours of the day, btw

Now for the simple mid-winter reminder/prayer for self and all ~ enjoy!

Be yourself . . . BUT
be open
be teachable
be active
be benign
be peaceful
be merciful
be thoughtful
be kind
be balanced
be generous
be enthusiastic
be humble
be a little crazy
be respectful
be guarded
be cautious
be wise
be faithful
be polite
be accepting
be oblivious to some things and some people
be attentive to others
be Christ on earth
be the face of Love
Be the YOU that you are meant to BE
and sometimes
that's all you can do
and
that
is
enough!

Write Your Blessings in Stone

Before any more time passes between postings, I want to briefly share some of our gratitude here for our grandchildren to perhaps discover when they are older and just because that was/is the purpose for this blog. I want to say how very, very thankful we are for our family. Not many people are as blessed.

They are not all pictured here and some are "adopted" family, but because pictures speak volumes, this is as close as I can come to writing our "blessings in stone" as we reflect on this past year and with some no longer with us. Families by their nature are often at the heart of all of our struggles, but when God is in the mix, they are also the bedrock of who helps us overcome the worries of this life by their unfailing love. They stay.

We love you, family, and are grateful for you more than you know. May God protect each one of you/us this new year and always as we are all in this together. With gratitude ~
